“Alice is an old school, unique and joyful cinema slash DVD rental shop in the middle of Christchurch. The take home rental options are well curated, sorted and myriad and the films are new releases with the occasional classic rescreen. The folks that run Alice deeply love and appreciate film, and it shows. You also get free water, a fine selection of drinks and snacks and clean bathrooms too. I've seen quite a few movies over the years at Alice and the experience is always excellent - the screens may be small but the picture and sound are consistently dialed in. The seats are superbly comfortable. Grab some warm macadamia nuts and settle in on a rainy afternoon for a film education. I've been in cities 10 times as large as that don't have a space this fun. Highly recommended and a must stop when time permits in Christchurch. This way, then that way.”
