1 / 2Embassy Theatre
π Mount Victoria, Wellington
Built in 1924, the Embassy Theatre on Kent Terrace is one of New Zealand's largest and best-preserved historic cinemas. The 750-seat auditorium delivers a genuinely big-screen experience with a sound system reviewers describe as outstanding.
The Embassy Theatre is an outstanding building, even if you arenβt going there to watch a film, I would check it out just for the architecture. I went to watch the new Avatar - on the big screen it was amazing, even better that it was in 3D.
π Family Action Verdict
A special-occasion cinema β the sheer scale and the sound quality make watching anything here feel like an event worth making the trip for.

βThe birth of awsome fantasy helping promote indie cinema around the world. Epic stories and primers. New lines Awsome stories including the lord of the rings. Roads that lead to seats I love good stories and movie theaters that house them.β

βBuilt in 1924, this is one of New Zealand's best theaters. With a capacity of 750, you can consider it as one of the larger venues as well. It is worth visiting for its beautiful interior.β

βThe Embassy Theatre on Kent Terrace is an absolute must-visit if you love classic theatres. The location is very convenient, the building is beautifully maintained, and the seating is comfortable plus it wasnβt cold like some theatres can be. The architecture alone makes it worth visiting, even if youβre not watching a movie. Itβs amazing to learn about the theatreβs history, nearly 100 years old, and its connection to major premieres like The Lord of the Rings and more recently Avatar: Fire and Ash. I watched Avatar: Fire and Ash here and it was a fantastic experience. Truly one of Wellingtonβs iconic landmarks.β
