1 / 3Fiordland Cinema
đ Te Anau, Southland
A small, cozy Te Anau cinema loved for its local Fiordland films like Ata Whenua and Deer Wars. Comfy seats, a bar with snacks and drinks, and a reliable option when the weather turns.
This a great spot in Te Anau which is also perfect when the weather is not too good for outdoor activities. We caught Deer Wars and Ata Whenua, Avatar. You can also get drinks and the seats are comfortable for a long movie. Awesome!
đ Family Action Verdict
This is a lovely pick if you're visiting Te Anau and want something to do when the weather turns, or just want to see the gorgeous local Fiordland films everyone raves about.

âA Fiordland trip cannot be complete without watching Ata Whenua at Fiordland Cinema. Amazing footage of Fiordland, and the bar and craft beer were excellent too. Altogether, a must.â

âWe had a wonderful time seeing wicked 2. It is a quiet and small theatre offering snacks and drinks for sale. Would definitely recommend.â

Overview
When the Fiordland weather closes in, this little cinema in Te Anau is where families end up, and nobody seems to mind. The big draw is the local films - Ata Whenua and Deer Wars come up again and again - shown on comfy seats in a quiet, intimate space. There's a bar with drinks and snacks (the craft beer gets a lot of love from the grown-ups), and it's pram accessible if you've got a little one along.
