1 / 3Grey Lynn Community Centre
📍 Grey Lynn, Auckland
Grey Lynn Community Centre runs structured playgroups, school holiday programmes for ages 5–13, and a Sunday farmers market with live music and fresh produce. Main hall opens to a garden and multiple room sizes suit different groups.
Very nice wooden dance floor in the hall. It's not a huge hall so great for small to medium sized events, maybe max about 50 people.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
The Sunday farmers market alone is worth the trip — fresh food, live music, and a playground in one spot. Families who use the playgroups and holiday programmes tend to come back year after year.

“A wonderful place of connection. We have been hiring the centre for many, many years and we have always had beautiful experiences with all staff across the board (from managers to on site booking staff), the facilities (we have hired each room in some capacity for different reasons over the years- all great quality and car parking), excellent comms and values. We find that the ethic behind the centre is authentic, supportive, and truly caring for it’s community, and it’s a pleasure to continue to hire and keep coming back, year upon year. Thankyou GLCC!”

“A good venue for get together of around 100 people. The main hall is big enough for events such as pre-wedding garba/ dance parties (controlled music/ sound levels to meet auckland council requirements). I had done pre-marriage dance/garba event here. The staff support was excellent. Parking was almost sufficient. The main hall has gates that open onto the garden and summer parties could be beautiful here.”

“Great place. Lovely building. Great kids play group with amazing facilities and lots for the kids to do. They also run other programs here like kids football.”

Overview
Regular playgroups let young children learn through play as parents connect. School holiday programmes cover each break for ages 5–13. The wooden-floored main hall connects to the garden for warmer months and accommodates events from small gatherings to around 100 people. Sound levels are managed to meet Auckland Council requirements. The Sunday farmers market on the grounds includes organic produce, hot food, live music, and a playground. Kids' football programmes also run from the centre.
