I completed my second multi day trek with James and his crew a couple of days ago. This trek James , Rosa and Laura were great attentive hosts and looked after us so well. Our days were full making memories to last us for years to come. It was so much fun! I had thought I wouldn’t take many photos as I took so many 4 years ago on my first trek but you can’t get out in the majestic scenery without trying to capture it to take home with you. The horses were great, well cared for and sure footed for the spectacular station country we got to explore over a variety of terrain. We were privileged to explore a part of New Zealand that not many people are lucky enough to experience. Authentic historic station huts, learning the names of the mountains and rivers brings the history of this amazing part of New Zealand to life. Rivers, vast valleys and mountains, there is always something to look at with the different flora and fauna that abounds. The feeling of being present in the landscape is mindfulness at its best and restores your equilibrium- no need for a wellness retreat when you can do a horse trek instead! We were well fed with hearty breakfasts, reviving lunches and delicious dinners, and great conversation throughout. So if you have a trek on your bucket list where you are part of a small group and made to feel included you can’t go wrong with James and co.

My experience was absolutely phenomenal! From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized, and the scenery was breathtaking. The instructors were fantastic—incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and supportive. They made sure we felt comfortable and confident, providing just the right amount of freedom to truly enjoy the ride, while still keeping everything safe and under control. The horses were well-trained and a joy to ride, and the entire adventure felt thrilling yet relaxing at the same time. It was, without a doubt, one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had. :) thank you.

It was such a lovely experience! Amazing staff, who guided us through everything in a way that was easy to follow. They made sure we understood properly and even took into consideration that we had to translate the instructions to the two people who did not understand English in our group. They made it very pleasant even for our member who was afraid of the whole experience. (We were all mostly complete beginners) The trail was beautiful, horses were perfect, our guides were most kind! Simply put, we 100% recommend and we wish to be able to come back again in the future!

4 of us just finished a 4 day, multiday trek. Can't recommend James and the team enough. Horses were fantastic, the team went out of their way to look after us and were impressively organised and professional. Accommodation was authentic back-country huts set in the most majestic of locations. Such a privilege to ride and experience this seldom visited iconic part of the NZ high county. It truly was an experience of a lifetime.
