This horseback riding tour was absolutely amazing! It was so much fun from start to finish. The horses were beautiful and well-trained, and the guide was fantastic—knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure everyone, regardless of their skill level, felt comfortable and safe. We did a day ride with several different stages. The trail was nice, with a variety of various sections. One of the highlights was the waterfall halfway through the ride, and crossing the river was such a thrilling experience! It was an unforgettable adventure, and I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a horseback riding experience!

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families with kids (and adults) comfortable on horseback for several hours of bush riding. Reviewers — including experienced trail riders comparing globally — consistently call out Hone's knowledge of the land and Maori history of the area, the horses' temperament, and the sheer remoteness of the trails. Welcomes beginners with the guide's matching.

I’ve done trail rides in more than ten countries across five continents so trust me when I say this is one of the best rides with absolutely stunning scenery. Under Hone’s expert guidance, you’ll get to see pristine forests not otherwise accessible and experience a wide variety of terrains. Forget hiking, go for this ride!
