1 / 3John Moore Reserve
đ Mount Roskill, Auckland
John Moore Reserve features heavy-duty Ninja Warrior-type equipment: a giant mouse wheel, hand bike, horizontal climbing wall, and multiple monkey bar configurations. A separate junior playground serves younger children alongside.
I pick up my Grandsons here after school. There is a heavy duty playground plus a junior one as this park is next to a Primary , Intermediate and Grammar school.
đ Family Action Verdict
Reviewers with school-age children and teens are enthusiastic about the Ninja Warrior equipment â a genuine workout and unusual for a neighbourhood reserve. The giant mouse wheel consistently draws mention as a standout. Mixed-age families find the junior playground covers smaller children while older ones tackle the challenge apparatus.

âAwesome playground equipment here, especially for older kids and teens/adults. For bigger folks there is some Ninja Warrior-type equipment with a hand bike, giant mouse wheel(!), horizonal climbing wall (it's not high so I assume you would move sideways, which is hard because you can only really grip with your fingers), a few different types of monkey bars/rings, and an apparatus where you hang by your hands and slide the hand grips along two parallel rails. For the under 6s, there are two swings, slide, and mini climbing wall, although our 2 1/2 year old wanted to go with his older siblings on the bigger playground. There's also a grassy field. The reason for only 4 stars is that there are no public toilets or water fountain, and no benches to sit on. There was also a lot of graffiti on the mouse wheel, including a couple of lewd pictures and bits of writing that you might not want your kids to see. Other than that, it's an unusual little neighbourhood playground that would be a great workout spot.â
