The most amazing time ever. I walked from the Paraparaumu metlink station to this place via a walking trail which is beautiful in itself. This was with my 5 year old. The long walk was well worth it to the miniature train park which also doubles as a nice children's park and beach area as well. The miniature trains are better than the one at Palmerston though the Palmerston layout is bigger. There are 5 different locomotive types and one being a functional little steam engine. Just amazing. Joy unlimited at this place. More so if you are train buff, which I am and my son.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Sandeep walked from Paraparaumu station with his 5-year-old and said the long walk was completely worth it. Five locomotive types including a real steam engine, plus a playground and beach area — it's a proper Sunday outing without an entry fee.

Awesome place. As parents of a train obsessed toddler this was a huge surprise. We have done many of the North Islands Miniature Ride-On Trains and this is easily one of the best. $1.50 per ride, and a $10 drive yourself option! This is just awesome pricing. The track length, layout, and experience is a must

Great fun day out when the trains are running. Awesome for little kids and parents. Definitely one of the more elaborate layouts I've seen. Plus the playground and gardens are right there once you have finished your ride.

Fun thing to do with the kids. Hubby went with the kids on the train to the beach, I drove ahead and set up a picnic for the family. Great spaces and plenty of picnic tables to use, shaded or in the sun.
