1 / 2Metrolanes
π Auckland CBD, Auckland
Multi-activity indoor venue with bowling lanes, karaoke rooms, billiards, and a mini bowling area for younger children. Card payments only. Shoe hire is mandatory. Equipment breakdowns are frequent.
Fun for the family. You get to pick your bowling balls from a rack as well. Shoes are included in the price for bowling. Wear socks. Drinks and food are well priced for larger groups. Theres also billiards and karaoke, and a 'mini' bowling area, I'm guessing for kids. The attendants are also very nice.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families who want a social multi-activity outing rather than uninterrupted competitive bowling. The karaoke rooms and billiards give groups genuine alternatives when lane issues arise.

βGreat place for groups and family to enjoy the bowling and snooker. You do have to pay extra $2 for shoes which they provide and it's compulsory. Which is I felt wasn't necessary. They should give it for free.β

Overview
Metrolanes combines traditional bowling with karaoke rooms, billiards tables, and a mini bowling zone suited to younger children. Card payments only β no cash accepted. Shoe hire is mandatory and charged separately per person. Equipment reliability is the main weakness: pin-setters fail, balls get stuck, and scoring systems misregister. Multiple lane changes in a single session are common.
