“I was lucky enough to meet Tracey (the owner) at reception, and then Perry (co-owner) as our guide in his 8WD. I was surprised I didn't need any extra layers, by the end of the route, my clothes were completely clean with no dirt at all, which shows how experienced they are. Even in muddy areas, he drives slowly and carefully. It's a family-run operation, and at first I was a bit shocked by what Perry was saying, he was dispelling things I'd learned before, like how penguins can only be seen at dusk. But because of his strict no-interference policy, the wildlife here simply don't see humans as threats. That meant I could actually see penguins in the middle of the day, which was really cool. I even got to see baby seals up close, literally a few centimetres away. I haven't been able to do that with other wildlife tours. His philosophy is simple: don't interfere at all costs. No research, no chipping, no feeding, literally just let the animals live in the wild on his land without any human interference whatsoever. That's why the animals don't scoot away when they see a vehicle or people. He's incredibly passionate about conservation and encourages people to start looking at what they can do, even if it's just a start in their own backyard. He's also got a great sense of humour. The tour only had 3 people and 1 guide, which is a pretty good ratio. I was sitting right next to him so could hear him clearly, while the other two were at the back. Most of the tour was spent sitting in his 8WD, with the only walking being up and down a slope to see the penguins. I know they're expanding and providing even more offerings, excited to see what's coming next.”

“This was one of the highlights of our 5 weeks in NZ. Their web site isn’t very user friendly since you have to call to reserve a spot, but the cost and the calling is worth it. We were the only two on our tour and got real personal service. He took his time and explained the local flora and fauna. We saw male and female (and babies) fur seals. We saw sea lions. We saw blue fairy penguins ( and babies) and literally were with one meter of them. It was an amazing experience”
