Northern Explorer: Wellington

“Our recent journey on the Northern Explorer train to Wellington on August 13th was nothing short of spectacular. Traveling as a family of four, we opted for the Scenic Plus experience, and it truly exceeded our expectations. From the moment we boarded, the ambiance was warm and inviting. However, what made this trip truly memorable was the outstanding service we received, particularly from our carriage attendant, Dawn. Her hospitality was exceptional; she went above and beyond to ensure our comfort throughout the journey. Not only did she provide excellent service, but her insightful explanations of the breathtaking landscapes we passed were captivating. Dawn's enthusiasm and dedication to her role made a significant difference in our experience. It was evident that she genuinely cares about her passengers, and her efforts did not go unnoticed. We commend her and the entire staff for their professionalism and warmth. Kudos also to the management of the Northern Explorer for selecting such wonderful team members. This journey was more than just travel; it was an experience filled with joy and beautiful memories. “What a wonderful way to see the countryside! The train left promptly as scheduled. The little cafe is quick and convenient, able to accommodate dietary restrictions and make a very good cup of coffee despite winding around hills at 80 km/hr. The conductor noted points of interest along the way and would slow the train a little so you could get photos of the mountain, gorge, viaduct, etc. There was a viewing car without windows so you could get nice photos. Comfortable chairs, tables. Charging ports at each seat.”

“From the the initial booking to travel and departure the GJNZ team were excellent and accommodating. The trip was wonderful despite the weather and the passengers were engaged and a happy vibe in the carriage we were in. The cafe has a range of foods and drinks to suit most and service was great! Comfortable and relaxing travel and the views ( when the weather cleared) were “ohhh & ahhhh” a couple of times I forgot to push record I was too busy ohhhh-ing ! Overall well deserved 5 ⭐️”
