Didn't even know this existed! My partner and I went up. Lots and lots of history. Really cool looking at the old trains. The guys who work there know their stuff. Super friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend if you haven't been! Going on the old train was a bit of fun too!

âThe Rimutaka Incline Railway Heritage Museum is a growing museum of old trains being refurbished. The train ride is short but sweet. Best was looking at the frames being rebuilt and refurbished. The tour and information was delightful! Will go again soon!â

Overview
The Rimutaka Incline Railway Heritage Trust is bringing back a historic steam route between Upper Hutt and the Wairarapa. At Maymorn visitors can tour the working restoration workshops, view Baldwin steam locomotives Wb 292 and 299 under rebuild, inspect vintage carriages, and ride in restored rolling stock. Passionate volunteer guides share deep knowledge of the railway's history and ongoing projects. The trust runs monthly open days on the second Sunday of each month.
