Best for competitive kids aged around six and up, and for birthday groups. Private rooms of light-up floor tiles run team challenges against the clock, booked online and opened with a door code. Unstaffed, so come prepared.
π Family Action Verdict
Great for a rainy-day burst of energy with kids old enough to follow game rules and take losing well; parents say the games are genuinely fun for adults too. Because nobody is on site, treat it like an escape room: book ahead, arrive early for the safety video, and keep an adult in the room with anyone under 13. Few reviews yet, but glowing ones.

βSuper easy booking process - you get a code, enter your password, and choose your game based on your team and difficulty level. The Eye Room really wakes you up and gets you ready for an exciting hide-and-seek style adventure. The perfect mix of physical activity, mental agility, and pure fun. Canβt wait to come back.β

βThey were more than happy to reschedule last minute for me. My group wasn't able to make the booking due to personal reasons so they let us change the days. Thank you so much! Heaps of fun! definitely going back to beat some scores and try all the different games!β

βBooked this for a teenage birthday party. Kids had a great time running around and so convenient for bubble tea after. Customer service from Running Grid was really good too when I had to change the booking or ask questions about it.β

Overview
Running Grid's Hamilton branch on Alexandra Street is a private, book-your-own-room version of the floor-is-lava game: over 280 touch-sensitive floor tiles light up and your team races to hit the right ones and beat the clock, with a second room built around a hide-and-seek style chase. You pick from a rotating library of themes and difficulty levels on a tablet, and scores post to a national leaderboard. The venue is unstaffed and runs on door codes, so you book online and let yourselves in.
