1 / 3Town Basin Public Playground
📍 Whangārei, Northland
Great for families with kids across different ages. Parents love the shade cloth, soft-fall matting, and the mix of slides, swings and climbing frames right by the Town Basin waterways.
Kid and I absolutely loved this Playground and frankly it was amazing. All different sorts of things tomplay on for different aged and a decent amount of seats and shade. I'd encourage coming super earlyz we were there between 8-11am and it was still quite full. There are little trampolines which are such a cute addition. Our kids played here longer than any other playground we have ever been to.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
If you've got kids across a range of ages, this is a solid pick - there's enough variety of equipment to keep everyone busy, and the shade plus soft matting take the edge off worries on a hot day.

“Nice playground that is well maintained and has sunshades, which is really good on a hot day. It has slides, swings, climbing frames that are suitable for different ages. It has soft safety floor, which makes it safer if they fall. They even have umbrellas by the benches for adults to rest and watch. Toilets next to it”

Overview
A well-kept playground down by the Town Basin with slides, swings and climbing frames pitched at a range of ages, so the big kids and the little ones both find something to do. Shade cloth and soft-fall matting take the sting out of a hot day and a tumble, and there's a pleasant view over the waterways from the benches. Handy having a large car park, public toilets and cafes all within a short walk when someone needs a break or a snack.
