1 / 3Waikite Valley Hot Pools
📍 Waikite Valley, Waikato
Waikite Valley Hot Pools offers six outdoor geothermal pools from 39 to 44°C, fed by Te Manaroa — New Zealand's largest single-source boiling spring. A short bush trail leads to the spring itself.
Great place for some outdoor hot tubs. Very mellow place, no thumping music just a beautiful area spread out among smaller & larger pools between 39-44C . We visited after school resumed so it was not that crowded. There’s a cafe & lockers. Make sure to take the short walk among the natural springs in back of the hot pools. Check their calendar as they’ll be closing for cleaning for a 2 week period. FYI there’s an online combo ticket with Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland a 10 min ride from Hot Pools.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
A genuinely serene hot pools experience — the natural spring trail adds real educational value, and the range of temperatures means adults and older children find their preferred heat.

“Really cool to see the origin spring and amazing atmosphere to relax and try out the different temperatures of the six pools 🥰 make sure you do as the signs say: never go in alone and stay hydrated! we made a drinking pause several times but after we were there the whole afternoon we had a bit of circulation problems, so maybe it wasn't enough 🫠 but apart from that we had a great time there and really enjoyed it - glad that we did it and would definitely recommend it 😊👍🏻”

“The Hot Spring Pool is in the middle of nowhere. Totally serene and worth going! We bought the combo ticket with the Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland which makes it very good value. There are 5 public pools with 2 small tubs with varying temperatures from coolest to hottest. Each with its own view. Best to go when it's cold to fully enjoy the hot Spring.”

“I’ve never seen anything like this. The hot pools were really nice but the highlight of this place is the nature and being able to learn about and witness the geothermal river, pool and geyser. This place is absolutely stunning. Highly recommend.”

Overview
Waikite Valley draws water from Te Manaroa spring and distributes it across six outdoor pools from 39 to 44°C. The setting is rural and quiet — no music, surrounded by native bush. A five-to-ten minute trail reaches the Te Manaroa viewpoint, where signage covers the geothermal geology and history. Reviewers describe the spring as a highlight beyond the pools themselves. Posted signs ask visitors not to enter alone and to stay hydrated.
