1 / 3Wild Coast Ruapuke
π Raglan, Waikato
Wild Coast Ruapuke at 1549 Whaanga Road, Raglan, runs horse treks through bush and along the beach, with horses ridden through the ocean. Onsite camping available alongside day rides. Suits novice and experienced riders.
We found Ruapuke Camp to meet all our expectations. Our family (6 adults+ 4 children) absolutely π― enjoyed ourselves. Once our camp was set up our children ranging from 5-9 years of age felt safe enough to explore the entire camp grounds together by themselves without parental supervision. They specially enjoyed feeding the eels and walks to the pond. There are campsites to suit everyone's needs near or further from the facilities that the camp offers. The facilities accommodated our needs even as big as our family is ( its all about timing β°οΈ when it comes to using the facilities folks thumbs π) We were impressed with these areas ie showers/toilet/kitchen areas were always clean by whom I nick named 'mama bear' and the male figures always in behind supporting. The whole team goes above and beyond to give campers a good experience. We also advantage of trips to the beach which is a 15min walk or 2 min drive. The lookout is amazing. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back again for the 3rd time. Good job to Team at Ruapuke.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with kids 5+ comfortable around horses, plus adult riders wanting an unusual coastal-bush experience. Reviewers consistently mention the beach and bush variety, including riding horses through the ocean. The optional camping makes a longer family trip easy.

βThe best horse trip I have ever done. Bushwacking on the horse through what felt like a jungle to European, gorgeous views, ridding a horse through ocean! And running on horses on the beach! Wow! Friendly owners and really calm happy looking horses:).β

βAmazing afternoon ride with Wayne and the team. Epic scenery and great hosts. The horses were in great condition and well behaved. We stayed at one of the cabins on site as well and it was awesome as well. Such a magic spot. Highly recommended!β

βThe best! My partner wasn't an experienced rider but I was and they catered to both of us perfectly. The accommodation was great and all the food was delicious, and most of all, I loved my horse! I can't wait to go again!β
