📍 Ngongotahā, Bay of Plenty
Best for a rain-proof morning with a wide age spread. The hour-long Farm Show is genuinely funny, with sheep, dogs, live shearing and kids pulled on stage, and the covered tractor tour lets little ones hand-feed alpacas, deer and llamas.
Visiting the Agrodome was one of the highlights of our New Zealand trip! The farm is beautifully maintained, surrounded by stunning green countryside, and offers a fantastic opportunity to experience authentic New Zealand farming culture. The famous Farm Show was both entertaining and educational, showcasing a variety of sheep breeds and impressive sheep-shearing demonstrations. The presenter was engaging, humorous, and kept the audience entertained throughout. The farm tour was equally enjoyable, allowing us to get up close with sheep, alpacas, deer, and cattle. Feeding the animals and interacting with them was a memorable experience for both adults and children. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about what they do. Everything was well organized, clean, and family-friendly. If you’re visiting Rotorua and want to experience a true Kiwi farm adventure, Agrodome is an absolute must-visit. Highly recommended for visitors of all ages. We would definitely come back again! 🇳🇿🐑🌿✨
🏆 Family Action Verdict
A safe bet for mixed ages and mixed weather: preschoolers love the lambs and the nursery, primary kids get pulled on stage, and adults enjoy the humour more than they expect. Do both the show and the tour if you can, and pick a weekday or the first show of the day to dodge the crowds. Audio translations are available for non-English speakers.

“We had a fantastic time at the agrodome. Came for the farm show and farm tour experience and honestly it was so worth it. The show was funny, informative and different to other shows like this (eg sheepworld). It was great. The tractor farm tour was also amazing. Sarah was a fabulous tour guide and they have done such a fab job to create such a calm and friendly environment for the animals. Also loved the stop to grab kiwis - so cool! Well worth a trip and definitely glad we came. The kids loved it”

“It was an amazing experience despite the heavy rain! We had a really great time at the show and the farm tour! All the fluffy animals are well-trained and friendly. We got to experience the best of it all. The show was full of laughters and had good interactions with most audiences. Also, translation audios were available for non-English speaker. Very thoughtful and informative. Really appreciated the hospitality of the staff!”

“Agrodome NZ. What a fantastic place to visit. I wasn’t sure what to expect and was amazed at this great centre. Very interactive. Lots of kids and adults got to participate which was fun. Sheep were amazing and well trained. Sheep dog showed his skills. Female host sheared a sheep with ease while explaining everything throughout the show with lots of fantastic NZ humour. Definitely visit the Agrodome for a fun experience.”

Overview
Agrodome is a 350 acre working farm in Ngongotahā, ten minutes from Rotorua, and its Farm Show has been a fixture for decades. The hour-long show runs several times a day in an indoor arena: nineteen sheep breeds parade on stage, a dog works the flock, a sheep is shorn live and children are invited up to feed lambs or hand-milk a cow. The 45 minute Farm Tour follows on a covered tractor-trailer, stopping to hand-feed alpacas, deer and llamas. A baby-animal nursery, cafe and play area are free.
