“Fantastic little zoo in New Plymouth! I had heard not great things (animals died, empty areas etc) but this was not the case! The zoo was full of really exciting animals, such as the silly little otters, the various shades of monkeys, meerkats, kunekune pigs, lizards, birds, chickens, owls, and more. The place is nice, and it’s not too hard to avoid annoying families. Real fruit ice cream is there too, but $8 is too expensive. Overall, really nice place to go during a day out here!”

Overview
Don't be put off by the size - this free little zoo packs in a surprising amount, from the silly otters that steal everyone's attention to monkeys, pigs and a whole lot of birds. The paths are easy with a pram, parking's sorted, and Brooklands Park right outside means you can stretch the visit into a proper morning out. A couple of the old favourites (alpaca, capybara) have moved on, but there's still enough to keep small kids pointing and chattering.
