The highlight of this trip, however, was experiencing the seasonal magic of the Christmas lights. Seeing the area transformed by festive displays against the backdrop of the quiet harbour was spectacular. The lights add a whimsical charm to the rugged landscape, making the evening feel truly special. It is a fantastic way to celebrate the season with family, combining the raw beauty of New Zealand’s coast with a warm, festive community spirit. It’s a very family-friendly spot; the atmosphere is safe and welcoming, maintaining a "local secret" vibe that is hard to find these days. “A wonderful vintage railway experience where you can enjoy scenic views of the opposite side of Auckland. The ride lasts nearly 40 minutes and includes a photo stop, which was truly enjoyable. The staff were very friendly, and the service was highly appreciable. I recommend trying both the Jigger manual and motorised options. The manual jigger has a limited distance, whereas the motorised jigger takes you all the way to the next nearest station. Overall, it is a worthwhile and memorable vintage experience.”
