1 / 2Monarch Wildlife Cruises & Tours
π Dunedin, Otago South
Wildlife cruises departing Wellers Rock Wharf past Taiaroa Head lighthouse, with royal albatross, fur seals, sea lions, and little blue penguins. Over 40 years of expert-guided tours. Binoculars and warm jackets provided on board.
Stunning day for our cruise! The rest of dunedin was sitting in yucky rainy weather and we got so lucky out there. We are locals and won a voucher for 4 of us, we had two weeks dudes who loved it. We saw a good few Albatross enjoying the air currents that were streaming up the harbour from the south, seals and a blue penguin came over around the boat for an appearance. Staff were lovely, good sized tour and lots of interesting information. We loved exploring out back yard π
π Family Action Verdict
Guides like Reece and Buddy turn a boat ride into a proper wildlife education β they spot birds before most passengers look up, and their commentary on seal pup behaviour and albatross aerodynamics keeps kids genuinely engaged throughout.

βIt was an incredibly beautiful and interesting tour. I can highly recommend the whole team. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Our tour guide, Reece, was amazing. He had so much knowledge, spotted every bird, and knew so much about all the animals. He also has a great sense of humour. You can really tell that the people there love their work. I was able to see the albatrosses up close, quietly watch the penguins, and admire the incredible landscape.β

βAbsolutely fantastic experience. We had Buddy as our guide, and he did an incredible job. A.J. was also a wonderful host. She was incredibly friendly and helpful. The tour itself was excellent. The view of the wildlife (particularly the Albatross) was spectacular. I cannot recommend this enough!β

βGood tour in a small group with interesting information and fun team. On the day we went, it was a clear day and no wind, so unfortunately not a lot of flying albatross, but a good day on the water nevertheless where we saw seals including baby seals/pups.β
