βGreat to see people keeping these trains on track. The ride was a bit short, but the penguin at the end made it good again. For children a must do.β

Overview
Oamaru Steam and Rail runs vintage trains from Harbourside Railway Station to the Red Sheds β 1800s warehouses now home to craftspeople. The route passes Oamaru's oldest stone buildings, through the former railway yard, along clay cliffs and the Victorian harbour. The half-hour return includes 15 minutes at the Red Sheds, where a blue penguin occasionally shelters. The Blue Penguin Colony is directly across the road. Open wagons give clear views. Pram accessible.
