Best for the latest family release in Gisborne. A locally owned five-screen cinema in a 1930 building on Gladstone Road, with two big auditoriums and three small ones, a candy bar and reasonable snacks. Older seats, and bring a jacket.
Very nice cinema, I don't know why some people complaining. It is an old and only cinema in Gisborne, but still acceptable conditions. Their toilets also clean and looked like brand new. We should supporting this local cinema and not let this only cinema in Gisborne close down.

Set expectations: this is an old cinema with basic seats, not a recliner multiplex, so pick a shorter film for small children and take jackets even in summer. Overview
The Odeon opened on Gladstone Road in 1930 as the Majestic and has been Gisborne's picture house ever since, now family owned and the only cinema in town. It was split into a multiplex in the 1990s and runs five screens: two large auditoriums that carry the big family releases and three small rooms of thirty to forty seats. The building has heritage charm, the toilets draw praise and the candy bar is fairly priced. The seats are older and upright, and regulars say the theatres run cold.
