A free, expansive adventure park anchored by an iconic giant carrot sculpture, a brilliantly designed children's play area, a standout pirate ship, BMX tracks, river-side walking trails, whimsical vegetable characters, and clean restrooms throughout.

This place fully commits to the bit, and it’s brilliant. The iconic huge carrot is genuinely impressive, the vegetable friends are unhinged, and the pirate ship is worth the visit. Beyond the root-vegetable fever dream, it’s also an excellent adventure park. The children’s play area is massive and brilliantly designed, with a standout pirate ship that could easily keep kids occupied for hours. There’s a proper BMX track, a well-equipped workout area for adults, and even an assault course! Come for the carrot. Stay for the park Leave slightly confused, but very happy. Would 100% recommend πŸ₯•

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families stopping through Ohakune who expect a quick look and end up staying well over an hour. Toddlers through teenagers each find structured play. The riverside trails extend the outing for adults as children cover the play equipment.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Approach from the road slowly β€” the park extends well beyond what's visible from the carpark.
⏰The riverside benches and trails suit a picnic alongside play β€” bring food.
🎟️BMX tracks suit older children and teenagers who may otherwise skip traditional play areas.

β€œWe visited Ohakune Carrot Adventure Park on a rainy day, so unfortunately we couldn’t try out many of the rides and activities. Still, it’s a lovely spot with the iconic big carrot and plenty of play areas that look fun for kids when the weather is better. The park seems well maintained and would be a great stop on a suny day. We’ll definitely come back again to explore fully”

β€œOne of the best public parks alive ever come across in all of my travels. Very well kept and maintained. Beautiful trails throughout the park. Loads of activities for all different age groups. You could easily spend an entire day here if you were looking for a low key activity to keep the family entertained. I wish other countries would invest in public spaces like this.”

β€œWow! I’ve never seen such an incredible road side park. And it’s FREE!! I thought I’d see a giant carrot statue and that’s it. So wrong! Loads of kid (and adult) friendly activities, short and longer paths, benches along the river, and clean restrooms. Everything is in great condition. This is a MUST STOP interaction attraction. Well done, Ohakune!”
