1 / 3Orca Wild Adventures | Dolphin Swims
📍 Tauranga, Bay of Plenty
Full-day marine adventure from Tauranga Harbour with dolphin swimming, snorkelling at Mayor or Motiti Island marine reserves, and BBQ lunch on board. Custom swim bars and swim mat for all water confidence levels. Sea Shepherd-supported operator.
One of the best tour experiences I’ve ever had! This was the first time our remote team had met in person, and what an icebreaker it turned out to be. A few of us flew in from Auckland especially for the trip, and it completely exceeded our expectations. Within the first half hour of leaving the harbour we saw our first dolphin pod, and by the end of the day we’d seen four in total (plus a manta ray and even a hammerhead shark!). The highlight was definitely getting in the water with the dolphins, which was such a surreal experience. We also stopped at a marine reserve island where we snorkelled with fish while the crew prepared lunch (included in the tour). The crew were incredibly kind, generous, and genuinely hospitable all day. They kept us stocked with tea, coffee, and hot chocolate, and their positive energy made us feel right at home. I also really appreciated how respectful they were of the dolphins, working with Sea Shepherd to make sure interactions were safe, ethical, and never harmful to their environment. You can tell they truly care. Could not recommend this tour enough. It was an amazing experience from start to finish. If you're in Tauranga, or are looking for a family/work outing, my advice would be: don’t miss it 🐬
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Mark and the crew go the extra mile in every direction — Jessica's family booked the whole boat privately and came away with two snorkel stops, a manta ray sighting, and a 60-minute dolphin escort back to harbour. BBQ lunch with vegan options showed the crew paying attention to what guests actually need.

“Can highly recommend Orca Wild Adventures to anyone. Our family booked the whole boat for a private day out, and it was absolutely amazing! Mark and his crew could not have been more accommodating, welcoming and cheerful. We headed straight to Mayor Island after taking off from Tauranga Harbour, and saw a couple of penguins on the way there. At Mayor Island, we were able to have two snorkel stops, and saw plenty of fish, a seal and other wildlife. Lunch was provided, even with delicious vegan options, as well as hot drinks throughout the trip. When heading back home, we encountered a manta ray as well as a huge pod of dolphins, who swum with our boat for over an hour. It was a truly magical experience. Unfortunately, the pod we encountered had juvenile dolphins with them, so we weren't able to swim with them. But that is no fault to the staff and did not detract from the wonderful experience we had. Will certainly come again!”

“Absolutely brilliant! We had the best day out with Mark & the crew! They were so friendly & knowledgeable. Saw so many dolphins! The first pod we saw had around 80 dolphins in, including lots of mums with their babies! It was awesome to see them all swimming along with the boat, jumping & twirling. They were just wonderful. The second pod had less in but as there were no babies we had the chance to go into the water with them. We must have spent at least half an hour with each pod. It was an unforgettable experience. We had a yummy BBQ lunch on board the boat, moored just off an island and also did some snorkelling there. An added bonus was meeting 2 seals on different rocks as we made our way back around the island to go home. A really amazing day out! You must go! Huge thanks again to Mark & the lovely crew for providing us with such an unforgettable experience ☺️!”

“I went with my friends and we had a great time! The boat crew was super friendly and created an amazing vibe all over the boat. And most important we’ve got to see A LOT of sea life. Dolphins everywhere 🤯. Will come back again with my son”
