Great park for kids of all ages. Big enough to kick a ball around and also watch the planes come in to land. The playground is awesome and has many varieties of things for the kids to play with. From a sandpit with a digger, swings, climbing frame, slides and more. The concrete pathways are good for the little ones on balance bikes too

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families with kids aged 2 to 10 who can also enjoy the plane spotting. The pump track suits scooter-riding kids specifically, and the sandpit digger keeps toddlers occupied independently. Weekend parking fills fast — an early arrival pays off.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

💡Bring scooters — the pump track is purpose-built and the concrete paths are smooth throughout.
Arrive early on weekends as parking fills quickly.
🎟️The sandpit digger is a toddler magnet — bring a change of clothes.
🚗Check flight schedules if plane spotting is the draw — approach paths are busiest at peak times.

A long overdue upgrade for Arataki whānau, and we’ll worth the wait. Three new picnic tables, bench seat under an existing olive tree, disabled access, water fountain, scooter track, sand pit, swings, slides and a ‘witches hat’ to climb all over. The best park this side of Bayfair 👍🏽

Great for children younger and older. Grassed area as well a play equipment. Toilets are on site and well kept.

A really fantastic space for kids to run, climb and play and even bring your scooter as it has an awesome pump track, lots of great equipment, really good seating areas if you're staying for a while and want to sit, enjoy a snack or even a meal here, lots of shaded cover over the equipment for the young'uns. However, there are no toilet facilities here and unfortunately some little grub had already vandalised the slides with graffiti. Hopefully the council will get there to clean it off but a bit disappointing to see when this recreation ground is so new.

Overview

Pacific Park sits directly under the Mount Maunganui flight path, so planes descend overhead at close range as children use the playground — a reliably spectacular backdrop that aviation-keen kids fixate on. The recent upgrade added a scooter pump track, sandpit with a digger, climbing structure, swings, slides, new picnic tables, disabled access, and a water fountain. On-site toilets are well maintained. Wide open grass suits ball games and open running. Pram access throughout. Free entry.
