Paradice Ice Skating Avondale
π Avondale, Auckland
Paradice Avondale runs a real ice rink alongside laser tag, 13-hole indoor mini golf, and escape rooms. Beginner frames and whale chairs are on hand for first-time skaters, and birthday packages combine multiple attractions. Dress warmly.
We recently visited Paradise ice Skating in Avondale, Auckland, and it was a fantastic experience! We came with a GrabOne voucher, which made the visit more affordable, and it was well worth it. There were four of us, and we all had an incredibly fun time on the ice. The skate hiring process was smooth and hassle-free. The staff were efficient and friendly, making sure we had the correct sizes and fit. There were plenty of frames available to help beginners get used to the ice, and for those who needed even more support, there were whale chairs, which were a great option for anyone who might feel less confident. These little touches made it easy for everyone, regardless of skill level, to get involved and enjoy the session. The ice arena itself was impressive, featuring real ice, which made the experience feel authentic and thrilling. The rink was well-maintained, though I will say the arena is quite cold (as to be expected!), so make sure to dress warmly. The temperature definitely adds to the real skating atmosphere, but it can get a bit chilly if youβre not moving around much. It brought back a lot of memories for me, as I used to love ice skating when I was younger. It was great to relive that feeling, and itβs a wonderful activity to share with friends or family, especially when everyoneβs having such a good time. If I had to point out one small downside, it would be the music volume. While the music selection was upbeat and helped to create a lively atmosphere, it was a bit too loud for my liking, making it slightly hard to communicate with others while skating. Turning the volume down just a notch would enhance the overall experience without sacrificing the fun. Overall, we had a blast, and I highly recommend Paradise ice Skating for anyone looking for a fun, energetic outing. Whether youβre an experienced skater or a beginner, this place has everything you need for a great time on the ice!
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with kids 6 and up wanting real ice without a formal lesson. Whale chairs and on-floor staff mean beginners gain confidence quickly. The relaxed, self-directed atmosphere is captured perfectly by one reviewer: 'its own lawless independent nation' β and they loved it.

βThis place is like it's own lawless independent nation, we love it. "How much for four people?": "Hmm, not sure". Gives us the cheapest pack. "My girl wore shorts, do you have any pants we could borrow?": "Lost and found is there, just take whatever, man, noone ever comes back for it." Got two hats. Where's the skates reception guy? Noone knows, we just go help ourselves - it's wayyy easier. 'Helmets are mandatory', only half the people wearing them. What is this place? Awesome. Definitely coming back.β
