1 / 3Red Beech Avenue Play Area
📍 Woodridge, Wellington
Red Beech Avenue Play Area — also known as Tawhai Raunui Play Area — is a free outdoor playground in Woodridge, Wellington. Synthetic turf underfoot, equipment catering to all ages in a compact well-designed layout, and pram access throughout.
The name of this park has changed its from Red Beech Avenue Play to Tawhai Raunui Play Area. Nice turf and a good range of equipment. Windy up here and the turf does stay quite wet. There's a towel there to wipe the slides which is great. Otherwise you'll need to pack one. Great big slide. The younger ones can get quite a bit of speed and do land on the ground sometimes to be ready to catch them if you need to.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Reviewers highlight the thoughtful design — a good range of age-appropriate equipment in a compact space. The synthetic turf is called out as a clean, consistent surface year-round. The elevated setting adds a sense of openness.

“It’s windy here of course but this playground is really a lovely place. They’ve done a great job catering to all ages in a small play area and it’s quite rustic, done mainly in wood and metal.”
