Interesting story and presented in an easy to follow manner without being too complicated. This New Zealand man was truly compassionate and did some good work in China. Worth a visit to learn some history and the building is one of those repaired after the Christchurch earthquakes.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with school-age and older kids interested in history and biography. The displays are presented in an accessible way and the museum is compact enough to suit shorter attention spans. Free entry, central location.

Overview
The Rewi Alley Museum is a small free museum at 159 Oxford Terrace in central Christchurch. It tells the story of Rewi Alley — the New Zealander who spent 60 years in China during the 20th century, founding industrial co-operatives during the war against Japan and pioneering technical training schools (most famously at Shandan in the Gobi Desert). The museum is run by the New Zealand China Friendship Society and is housed in a building rebuilt after the Christchurch earthquakes.
