1 / 3Steam Incorporated
📍 Paekākāriki, Wellington
One of New Zealand's leading railway preservation societies at Paekakariki. Visitors tour the yard with passionate volunteer staff and can book mainline excursion trips behind restored steam and diesel locomotives.
Luckily for us our visit to the Paekakariki railway museum coincided with an open day at Steam Incorporated. Credit to the volunteers and Staff who run this as it would be an incredible shame to loose this timeless technology and equipment. It's place in civilisation, and building our nation is in good hands here. Enough palava, thank you for restoring and keeping these wonderful exhibits.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
For train-obsessed kids it is extraordinary — volunteers who have spent decades with these machines walk through every locomotive in the yard, and the mainline excursions put passengers on a working steam train.

“This is one of New Zealand's leading preservation societies for railway relics from a bygone era. Friendly staff who are great to chat to and can tell you tales of the rails. Book a trip with them on one of their numerous excursions throughout the year and enjoy the experience of a bygone era. Attend one of their Open Days when one pops up. Definitely a great place to go. 10/10 :D”
