1 / 2The Adventure Centre
š Sydenham, Canterbury
Indoor climbing centre in Christchurch with a large sport climbing wall and Clip n Climb facility. Full gear hire available. Staff deliver thorough safety introductions for first-timers and run structured skill development courses. Open seven days.
I returned after a while away from top roping and the staff member was really great with the introduction. Rental Harness felt really decent and confidence inspiring compared to other cities i've Top Roped at. I also like the setting style and variety of this place. Main reason for review was the same staff member stepping in when some people we're trying to rush the rope climb with lots of people around and unsafe belaying. Proactive "fun-police" but it was for safety and extremely necessary all things considered!
š Family Action Verdict
Staff here are specifically praised for making newcomers feel safe and capable ā reviewers describe first-timers leaving with real technique gains rather than just a tick on the experience list. Open seven days and a proven school-holiday rainy-day option.

āI just finished the Movement Development Course and it was excellent. We worked on simple things like athletic posture and placing feet quietly, but those basics have made a huge difference. Iām climbing smoother now, with more control instead of just muscling my way up. Before the course I was battling to get through 15s ā now Iām climbing 16s clean and even starting to work on an 18. If you want to feel more solid on the wall, Iād definitely recommend it.ā

āMy friend and I had never tried rock climbing before and weren't sure what to expect. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a good time and felt safe using the equipment. I would recommend for anyone wanting to try something new. We Will definitely come back!ā

āMy son loved his Clip and Climb experience. It was sold out online being the school holidays on a rainy day. A great place for your child to burn some energy and grow confidence while having fun.ā
