A peaceful walk through native bush that is getting established locally.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

A rewarding short nature walk for families with children who enjoy bush settings and birdlife. The 500–600m track length suits primary-school-aged walkers comfortably, and the native tree canopy makes it genuinely different from a park walk. The picnic spot with harbour views is a good halfway reward.

The Johnsonville Community Association has been working with the WCC to build a new track through Totara Park, joining Broderick Road to Mclintock St. The 600m long biking and walking track will wend through a stand of fast-regenerating native bush, and there will also be a spot for picnicking and enjoying stunning views over Johnsonville to Broadmeadows, Newlands and Wellington Harbour. The JCA is slowly planting selected species of native trees along the track to rebalance and restore the local eco-diversity to its original state.

A well finished 500m walk through bush land from Mclintock St to Broderick Rd and back or return via The Old Coach Rd. Congratulations to all the volunteers and WCC for all your hard work.
