A lakeside Wanaka playground with a dinosaur slide for the littlies and a rope tower for bigger kids. Toilets close by and a spot near the lake to stretch out an afternoon.

A great stop for families. We played with a 4, 6 and 8 year old and each of them found something they loved. The proximity to toilets, lakeside, a small swimming stream and the Lee Summers sculpture is also a bonus. We loved the raised platforms with shade as it was a great place to refresh after being in the sun! Definitely worth visit if you visit Wānaka with children.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

This is a solid stop if you're passing through Wanaka with kids across a range of ages - one parent had a 4, 6 and 8 year old all happily occupied. The lake right alongside makes it easy to stretch out an afternoon, so it works well as part of a bigger day out rather than just a quick playground stop.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

💡Head over near sunset for a nice walk along the lake afterwards
Use the raised shaded platforms to cool off if it's a hot, sunny day
🎟️Toilets and a small swimming stream are close by, handy with little ones
🚗Combine it with other Wanaka spots like Puzzling World or the Wanaka tree for a full family day

A cute and lovely playgrounds. The dino slide is a big hit for younger kids. My older ones love climbing in the rope tower, or whatever that is called.

Nice playground. You can enjoy with kids for playing and feel relaxing the near the lake. It is good to walk around the sun set timing.

Overview

The dinosaur slide pulls in the younger crowd while the older ones scramble up the rope tower, so a wide age spread tends to sort itself out here (one family managed a 4, 6 and 8 year old all happily busy). Being right on Lake Wanaka is what makes it worth more than a quick stop - there's a small swimming stream, the Lee Summers sculpture to wander past, and toilets close by. Good as part of a bigger day out, especially around sunset.
