1 / 2Whanganui East Pool
â Temporarily Closedđ Whanganui East, Manawatu-Wanganui
A summer favourite for families with kids at different stages: a fenced baby pool, a children's pool, an adult pool, plus a hydro slide and diving board for the brave ones.
When they are open they're a fantastic place to take the family. There are 3 different sized pools, 1for adults, 1 for children and 1 fenced in pool just for the babies. There is a beautifully shaded BBQi-picnic area which is on a well maintained lawn, perfect for a wee rest in between swims.
đ Family Action Verdict
This is a great warm-weather spot if you've got kids at different stages, with a fenced baby pool, a children's pool, and an adult pool so everyone has somewhere to be. Pack a picnic and settle on the shaded lawn while the older ones tackle the slide and diving board.

âSuch an asset for Whanganui east school pupils and their swimming lessons., as well as the whole community. You can't beat outdoor pools, especially when they have hydro slides and open grounds where you can picnic while the kiddos swim.â

âFear all gone & nothing but fun had her for my 9yo son. Giving the diving board & the slide a go. Life guards fully alert, friendly and kind. Great evening spent meeting the teachers & parents evening with a sausage sizzle & swim.â

âGreat place to go, loved relaxed yet fun atmosphere. Nice water, doesn't sting your eyes with the usual chlorine sting. Love that there is a grass area at the far end of pools to relax in the sun.â

Overview
A proper summer spot for families juggling different ages, with a fenced baby pool, a children's pool, and an adult pool so nobody's stuck somewhere they don't fit. The older kids gravitate to the hydro slide and diving board while you claim a patch of shaded lawn for the picnic. Parents keep mentioning how alert and friendly the lifeguards are, which makes it easier to relax. Only open in the warmer months, so check before you go.
