Ambury Farm

“Ambury Regional Park is an excellent free family spot in Auckland. It features vast open grasslands with free‑roaming farm animals including cows, sheep, goats, pigs, horses and poultry. Most animals are gentle, offering kids a real‑life New Zealand farm experience. The park sits beside Manukau Harbour with flat walking trails. You can enjoy coastal views while exploring, and there are good spots for picnics and cycling. Facilities include toilets and BBQ areas with plenty of parking. Note that the ground gets muddy after rain, making pram access tricky. Do not feed the animals with your own food. There are no on‑site cafes, so bring your own snacks and drinks. A lovely half‑day weekend outing, highly recommended for families.”

“A free for all farm in Auckland?! Amazing! We saw lots of farm animals: sheeps, chickens, goats, horses, pigs, and even a bunny! They even have an insect garden if that fancies you. There’s a trail you can follow and there are signs to be aware of. There are certain areas where you can go in and get up close with the animals, how cool is that! You can also enjoy the coastal walkway if you want to get your steps in or bring a feed since there are picnic tables around - however, the smell of the farm is quite strong as it would be. It’s quite a cool place to check out. I would recommend this to locals and visitors!”
