Truly amazing farm! Very well maintained, extremely friendly staff and loads of different animals that are so pleasant and friendly. They loved to be petted and fed grass, and was such a fun day for the whole family, kids and adults alike. An amazing seedling swap was going on in the barn and we totally loved that too, as they gave out lots of free seedlings, seeds and soil for kids to start doing their own planting. Very friendly staff at the seedling swap. Lots of picnic benches that we used to have the food we brought. Lovely place and highly recommend it to all. Great work by the council for keeping such places free for access to all !

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for toddlers and primary-school children who want genuine animal interaction rather than glass-separated observation. The coastal path extends the outing for families who want more than the farm circuit. Newborn lambs in season are a particular draw.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

💡Visit in spring for newborn lambs — it's the most popular season and genuinely special for young children
Bring a picnic — tables are available and the coastal walk makes a natural extension of the farm visit
🎟️Check the Auckland Council events page before visiting — seasonal barn events including seedling swaps add extra interest
🚗The coastal walkway is pram-accessible and extends the outing by 30 to 45 minutes if you follow it to the Manukau Harbour foreshore

A free for all farm in Auckland?! Amazing! We saw lots of farm animals: sheeps, chickens, goats, horses, pigs, and even a bunny! They even have an insect garden if that fancies you. There’s a trail you can follow and there are signs to be aware of. There are certain areas where you can go in and get up close with the animals, how cool is that! You can also enjoy the coastal walkway if you want to get your steps in or bring a feed since there are picnic tables around - however, the smell of the farm is quite strong as it would be. It’s quite a cool place to check out. I would recommend this to locals and visitors!

We had a wonderful time at this free farm, which offers a large and open space perfect for families. The weather was beautiful when we visited around noon, and our two kids couldn’t have been happier. They enjoyed running around and exploring the farm, and seeing the newborn lambs was a special treat—they were absolutely adorable! The farm is well-maintained and provides a relaxing, fun atmosphere for both kids and adults. It’s a fantastic spot for a family outing, especially on a sunny day!
