Avon park is mid-makeover however I love that they've allowed public access to the finished areas ahead of the rest opening. So calm and lots of big open space. Would be great for any family (especially once the pump track and basketball court are completed)

Best for East Christchurch families with children who enjoy open space and aren't fazed by an active construction context nearby. The completed sections are already strong. Families with toddlers who need shade or fully enclosed play zones will find the current state less suitable â revisit once the pump track and basketball court open.

âA big space with a few different types of equipment. Also includes a bathroom. At the time of writing it's next to a work site but the playground itself is very pleasantâ

âThis area when completed is going to be a fantastic facility for us poor Eastsiders. It is nearly equal to what I've seen in Australia. Still a bit of work to do but worth a visit over the joliday period.â

âLovely natural looking space for a play midst kids bike ride. Have to do a detour around the local streets at the moment and the dogs scare me to be honest.â

Enter via Avonside Drive â Google Maps routes to a dead-end cul-de-sac behind the park. Shade is minimal across the site. Dogs in the surrounding streets have been noted as a concern by at least one parent.
