Best for families with kids around ten and up who like a puzzle. Seven themed rooms inside Motion Entertainment, from a spy mission to a witch's curse, each playable on an easier or harder setting so a mixed-age team can still beat the clock.
I come here often with my two young boys and we always have had a wonderful time! Sure, we haven’t ever finished on time, but that hasn’t stopped us having fun. The challenges are really interesting and well organised. I must give a HUGE shoutout to Vincent, who has been our staff member for each visit, and even when we’ve been hopeless, he’s been extremely patient and super gracious in helping us redeem ourselves! We’ll keep visiting and maybe one day we’ll beat the clock!

A good pick for a family with a couple of school-age puzzle fans, especially on a rainy Rotorua day when the rest of Motion is heaving. Choose the easier setting for a first visit with kids, keep an adult in the team to read clues, and treat the clock as part of the fun. Some themes are on the scary side, so check the room before booking.

“Was recommended to go by my friend Angel who works there and do not regret. We were met by a friendly staff member I think his name was Hayden he was clear with getting us set up and made the whole process smooth. Room was entertaining and having the different levels of hardness makes it enjoyable for all. Would definitely recommend.”

Escape Masters runs seven themed rooms inside the Motion Entertainment complex on Te Ngae Road: a spy mission to disarm a bomb, a serial killer's lair, a prison bus breakout, a mad scientist's lab, a witchcraft curse, a gangster diamond chase and a zombie invasion, plus two shorter safe-cracking and watchmaker puzzles. Each room can be run at different difficulty levels, which is what makes it work for families: a gentle setting for younger teams and a hard mode that parents say stumps them.
