1 / 3Exscite
📍 Hamilton Central, Waikato
Two-floor discovery centre covering everyday science and New Zealand's natural environment. Recent renovations shifted the focus toward babies and toddlers; many reviewers say older children exhaust the activities within 15–20 minutes.
Me and my wife purchased annual pass for our baby. We often visit here when weather doesn't allow us to go outdoor. This is a fantastic place to have a great time with kids or babies. Staffs are excellent, environment is clean and tidy. Only cons is that You cannot park at museum, so you should park road side. Strongly recommend!
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for babies and toddlers under three who want a clean, staffed indoor space, especially on a wet day, where an annual pass suits repeat local visits. Many reviewers with children aged 4 and up say the post-renovation content is too sparse and less interactive than before, exhausting quickly.

Overview
Exscite has two floors: Exscite Home covering everyday science and Exscite Taiao focused on New Zealand's natural environment through a Māori cultural lens. Recent renovations replaced many interactive science exhibits with sensory and fabric play areas. Reviews are strongly divided: families with babies and toddlers praise the clean, staffed environment, while many parents of children aged 4 and up say the interactive content was removed and they ran out of things to do within 15–20 minutes.
