1 / 3Galaxy World Gisborne
π Gisborne, Gisborne
Best for a wet afternoon with mixed ages in Gisborne. A Gladstone Road arcade with ticket and driving games up front, a free indoor playground with climbing, slides and a ball pit at the back, and a counter doing donuts. Open late every day.
We had a fun time at galaxy world. I took my 5 year old; a few of the driving games are better suited to older/taller people but there were lots of other arcade games to speak to the younger ones and the fun park playground in the back section with climbing, slides and ball pit. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. We'll stop back next time we're in Gizzy

A good answer to a wet Gisborne day when you have a toddler and a ten-year-old to keep happy at once: the little one lives in the free playground while the older one works the machines. Load a card, set a limit before you walk in, and let them trade tickets for a small prize on the way out.

βPopped in with my young Irish twin boys and it was the usual toddler chaos. The gentleman working there was incredibly patient and kind. It made a big difference in the moment. As a mum wrangling two toddlers, it was truely appreciated. Thanks for making their day.β

βPlayground is awesome, donuts are yum, and if your game play a few machines to win some tickets for some easy treats to take home.β

Overview
Galaxy World is Gisborne's arcade, on Gladstone Road on the way out of town towards Makaraka, and it works for a wider age spread than most because of what is behind the games. The front is the usual mix of ticket machines, prize games and driving cabinets, some of which need a taller child to reach the pedals. Through the back is a free indoor playground with climbing frames, slides and a ball pit for the little ones, and the counter sells donuts and drinks. It opens every day and runs late.
