1 / 3Henderson Valley Park Playground
📍 Henderson, Auckland
Compact playground with seesaw, swings and a bucket and spade sandpit area, adjacent to a horse paddock. Friendly magpies and ducks are regulars. Public toilets on site, no rubbish bins provided.
Location revisited 5-6 months later. Still gives me the good feels. Get to see horses in the paddock adjacent. How many parks U know boast that. That's something right ? 🐎🐎🐎
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with younger children who are drawn to animals as much as play equipment. The horses, hand-fed magpies and ducks make this genuinely memorable for nature-curious kids. The play equipment is basic, so families seeking an active climbing-focused playground should look elsewhere. Bring your own rubbish bag.

“I go there nearly everyday 4 about 1 year. Love all animals and I've been feeding a family of magpies. Gotten so used to me they eat out of my hand . There are the ducks and of course horse over the back fence. It's a lovely little playground for the kids . Swings ,seesaw, andca and pot with buckets attached to pullys for the kids to haul up and tip down funnels back to the ground. Lots to keep them occupied. While you sit at the picnic table with your coffee. The only negative is they dont have a rubbish bin for some reason which causes some to put there rubbish either in the sanitary bins or throw on the ground wi which is not a good look. Counsel put 1 bin in at least, every other park has them . It's common sense.”

Overview
Henderson Valley Park Playground pairs basic equipment — swings, a seesaw, and a small play area — with something most urban playgrounds can't offer: a horse paddock directly next to the fence line. A family of magpies has become so accustomed to regular visitors that they feed from the hand. Ducks frequent the area too. Public toilets are on site and parking is adequate. The playground has no rubbish bins — a repeated frustration for visitors — so pack out everything you bring in.
