π Family Action Verdict
A living museum that earns at least two and a half hours β kids move between heritage buildings, try butter churning and blacksmithing, and dress up, while adults genuinely learn about the Fencible era.

βA very unique historical experience of an old world New Zealand village. There is butter and bread making, music and dancing, a blacksmith and a rug maker. Lots to see and experience as well as a nice cafe for coffee or lunch.β

βReasonable entry fee, good map and signage. Our group spent 2.5 hours reading all about the history of the Fencibles. Small children's play room where they can interact with toys and dress up. Good exhibits and informative.β

βReally interesting place showing the progression over a 20 year period of the fencibles, basically retired soldiers and their families. Definitely worth a visit and there is a lovely little cafe there tooβ
