What a fantastic day we had on the Marlborough Flyer we had the diesel engine due to weather conditions Our carriage wasn’t over crowded enabling us to move around get comfy and enjoy the ride We had a very wet dreary day so it was lovely way to spend the day in Picton on a cruise port stop We were pleasantly surprised with a nice little drop of Nz wine some cheese n biscuits plus a huge muffin to enjoy It was such a fun day the staff were fabulous sooo friendly really made our port stop here memorable Short stop in Seddon to stretch the legs more wine tasting and back onboard Very picturesque scenery 🚂🚂🚂

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Complimentary wine, cheese and muffins and friendly conductors draw consistent praise. Train-loving children enjoy the vintage locomotive and moving between carriages to the viewing balconies. The journey suits Picton cruise-ship families who want a scenic, structured activity with no driving required.

This was one of our stop as part of our Cruise ship (ovation of the sea) My wife booked this as it was one of the activities available in Picton. The trip itself was passive but suddenly a very welcomed one. The team that was on board looked after us really well. a point to note the steam train is a refurbished locomotive and carriages from the 1930s. that means it may not be as comfortable as one would expect from a modern train, so adjust the expectations. We were treated to a few wine tasters along with water and muffins that was offered to us at no cost. We had the option to buy beer and buy a bigger serving of wine as well. wall at the turnaround point there was nothing much to do in that small town and our train was held up by an incoming carriage. overall, we really enjoyed the trip
