The Lil Brew
📍 Redcliffs, Canterbury
The Lil Brew occupies a refurbished heritage building in Redcliffs serving AllPress specialty coffee, daily in-house baking with gluten-free options, and açaí bowls rated among Christchurch's best. Sunny outdoor terrace, cosy indoor seating.
After a run at Cave Barnett Park, we came here for brunch. It must be a very popular café around here—there was quite a long queue to order. The food was nice; to be honest, not super special, but still good enough. What I really liked was the atmosphere—it was so cozy and cute. They have heaps of outdoor tables, a few more upstairs, and even a little section where they sell small goods.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best as a post-walk or post-park stop for families exploring Redcliffs and Cave Barnett Park. The sunny outdoor terrace gives children space to move as parents settle in with excellent coffee. Seating indoors is cosy and warm on cooler days.

“I visited The Lil Brew on Sunday for brunch, and as always, they did not disappoint! I love The Lil Brew for a couple different reasons: they have some of the best açai in Christchurch, and their outdoor area in the summer is stunning. The sun beats down onto the outdoor seating and the area is always buzzing with people and coffee. Pictured is my matcha latte and açai bowl (which I added both Biscoff and peanut butter to, because how could you not?!) The last time I was here I had two minor notes, one being that I thought the peanut butter portion was too little considering you have to add it, and second being that the matcha was a little milky. Upon this return, as you can see, the peanut butter was piled high, and the matcha was probably the best I’ve had at a chch cafe. I literally could not be happier! I truly think The Lil Brew should be near the top of your list to visit!”

“Absolutely love this café! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, whether you’re inside enjoying the cosy vibe or sitting outside with a sunny coffee. The team are genuinely friendly and attentive, bringing great energy and big smiles no matter how busy it gets. The coffee is consistently excellent — rich, well balanced, and perfectly brewed — and the cabinet treats are always a highlight. There’s a real community feel here, with thoughtful touches that make it more than just a quick coffee stop. Highly recommend for great coffee, lovely service, and an all-round feel-good vibe ☕️✨”

“Cosy atmosphere with an incredibly friendly and welcoming team. The service is top-notch, and the coffee is absolutely delicious. Plus, they’re pet-friendly! We enjoyed our coffee together with my 🐶😺 inside, which was such a huge bonus. Milo loved his pupuccino so much! The space, both inside and outside, is beautifully decorated and perfect for catching up with friends. Highly recommended!”
