“There are public tennis courts and picnic tables, with plenty of parking. The Riverside Walkway also starts at Waikanae beach. Toilets, wheelchair & pram friendly, shaded areas, the perfect spot for the whole family.”

Waikanae Beach Playground sits on the reserve at the end of Grey Street beside the holiday park, a minute's walk from the sand. It is split into three play areas built for toddlers, primary-age children and teenagers, with picnic tables, shaded spots, public toilets and free public tennis courts alongside. The Riverside Walkway starts here, parking is plentiful, and the city skatepark is a short walk up Grey Street. Reviews are few but uniformly positive.
