Whanganui Regional Museum

“Several weeks ago my assistant was op shopping and found a glass jar with the words “Jar of small delights” written in vivid. Inside the jar were lots of small bits of paper with suggestions of small delights to make life better. One of the first delights we opened was “visit the Whanganui museum”. It’s Matariki and I have a three day weekend so off to Whanganui from Wellington for my small delight. The museum was better than a small delight. The Waka were stunning, fascinating to see the moa bones, there was a fantastic art exhibition and there were lots of other delights as we navigated the museum. The staff were lovely and clearly very proud of their museum. I was impressed with the layout and it seemed to be kid friendly. The museum is free and can easily occupy an hour of your time. Five stars.”

“Wanganui is a very beautiful city. We visited the museum, the library and the art gallery. Unfortunately we were not allowed to take pictures in the art gallery. The museum also has the gift shop on the ground and the beautiful café where we had lunch afterwards. We shared the mixed salad for $18.00 and it was big enough for two of us. We were visiting the library on our way out of the museum. I like that these places are all in one area. . I recommend to pay a visit.”
