“Attended the annual Hokitika Wild Food Festival and had a blast. Great food, happy folks and the NZ Army band is top notch. Don't miss it next year, always the second Saturday in March.”

Overview
Cass Square is the big green square a block back from Hokitika's main street, and since June 2024 it has held the town's destination playground. The centrepiece is a clock tower climber with climbing walls, slides and talk tubes, joined by a waka, a flying fox, a wheelchair-accessible carousel and see-saw, play panels in sign language and braille, and themed shelters over accessible tables. Around it are sports fields, toilets and parking, and the Wild Foods Festival takes over each March.
