Great park for the kids to play in. Recently remodeled and upgraded with a pirate ship and climbing tower. Also contains the old community gardens and hirable hall.

Pick this over Cass Square if your kids are climbers: the ship and the tower give a confident six-year-old a proper workout, and the carousel means a child in a wheelchair joins in. Toddlers have less to do here, so families with a mixed crew may prefer Cass Square and come here as a second stop.

Overview
Lazar Park on Hall Street is Hokitika's second playground and the one built for climbers. The Hokitika Lions Club led its redevelopment with the council: a Santa Maria themed play ship with a climbing net and wobbly bridge, a Black Forest tower nearly seven metres tall with a climbing chimney, scramble net, rope bridge, baskets and ladders, a flying saucer basket swing and a carousel with room for two wheelchairs. A community garden and hall share the grounds, and there is a public toilet.
