1 / 3Skyline Queenstown
π Queenstown, Otago
Skyline Queenstown carries visitors by gondola to a hilltop precinct above the town, revealing panoramic views of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables. Luge tracks, dining, and viewing decks extend the visit well beyond the gondola ride.
Our family has been huge fans of the Luge ever since it opened in our hometown, Singapore. Visiting the Luge here was one of our must-do activities in Queenstown, and it definitely did not disappoint. We even spent our Lunar New Year here! Iβm quite scared of heights, but the gondola ride was incredibly smooth and steady, which made the journey up very comfortable. The views of Queenstown were absolutely magnificent, and we even spotted a few sheep on the mountains along the way. Once we reached the top, the cool temperature and the stunning scenery made the whole trip even more worthwhile. Of course, the highlight was the luge ridesβwe went for 6 rounds because honestly, one is never enough! The entire experience was so much fun and truly memorable for our family. Interestingly, the waiting time here felt shorter compared to Singapore because the procedures are a bit different. From the second round onwards, we could take our own luge carts, which helped reduce the waiting time. As loyal supporters of the Luge, weβll definitely be visiting it in other countries too. Highly recommended for families visiting Queenstown!
π Family Action Verdict
The gondola is the gateway and the views justify the trip up alone β add luge rides and you have a half-day that holds up for kids from toddlers through to teenagers.

βAbsolutely amazing if I could describe this place in two words. From the bottom centre where you board the gondolas the view is amazing and the engineering is also very cool. After you board the gondola,it's scary for some but the view is breathtaking, but really the gondola is the starter! After coming up into the main center you will be greeted by the freindly staff and there is a multitude of amazing gift shops and on the top floor there is a viewing deck which it's view was amazing and it really showed the queenstown view from a bird eyes view! I was also lucky enough to stay late enough to eat from the all you can eat buffet. The staff worked well in such a busy environment and we quickly got a table, the food was pretty good and the selection was international!. After I had finished my meal I felt quite satisfied and headed down back to my bnb, the experience was memorable and I would recommend this experience for anyone visiting queenstown!β

βWe had a great afternoon up at Skyline, the gondola ride provides great views over Queenstown and the surrounding area, probably some of the most panoramic of the area. The trip starts with some free photos, so be aware of this. They are a nice keepsake. Then the cafe was reasonable for what it is, coffee was good and the choice fair. The luge is great fun. But the queues on busy sunny days may be too much for some. We waited quite a while for our first shot. And as.we we're doing it with a 3 year old, once was enough to wait. So we didn't do our second time through due to timing. But that's not a reflection on the experience which is good fun. Overall, I would recommend the experience, although if your only doing the gondola, it's perhaps a little pricey, my advice is to pair it with the luge before going up as it is much cheaper.β

βWe purchased the Gondola, lunch, and 3-ride luge package on Saturday around 10am at the ticket office. We were planning to have lunch first and then go for the luge, but the gondola operation was temporarily suspended due to an electrical issue. The staff quickly informed everyone and helped us reschedule for the next day without any hassle. Thanks to their efficient support, we were able to enjoy the gondola and the luge the following day without any problems. The views were absolutely stunning, the staff were very kind, and the luge was so much fun! If youβre visiting on a rainy day, it can be windy and quite cold, so make sure to dress warmly.β

Overview
The Skyline gondola climbs from central Queenstown to a hilltop precinct with sweeping views over Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding ranges. At the top, luge tracks run across beginner and advanced lanes. The cafΓ©-restaurant, bar, and viewing decks make it a natural base for a few hours. Staff are praised for handling operational changes quickly. Free parking at the gondola base. Toddlers and prams are welcome throughout the precinct.
