1 / 2Cuba Street Playground
π Te Aro, Wellington
A tiny central Wellington playground with a single slide and safe matting, perfect for a quick break while shopping on Cuba Street with preschoolers.
Are you in Wellington and looking for the fountain thing but ended up here? Or maybe your partner is in Glasson's and you've been tasked with minding the pupa. Well look no further. It's the Cuba Street playground!!! There is a slide, and a lizard thing. Even soft padding on the ground, that must be safe eh. Maybe you're drunk in your 40s and just having an existential crisis at 3am. Whatever your specific needs are, visit THE Cuba Street Playground today, and tell a friend about it.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families doing Cuba Street shopping who need a quick break rather than a dedicated playground visit. Works well for preschoolers and younger kids who will be entertained by the simple slide, but older children may find it too basic. Perfect for a brief stop while exploring central Wellington.

βNot really a lot to review. Thereβs a slide and a fountain for kids to muck about on, which is nice and memorable and a landmark, more or less. But itβs hard to call it a playground. Itβs good for parents to let their kid run around while doing shopping though. Cuba Street is very fun, though, so this is a nice place to get a rest in the middle of it all.β

βA tiny playground with just one, small, brightly-coloured slide (on safe matting) in central Cuba Mall that is popular with preschoolers and older kids, located next to the bucket fountain. It keeps children occupied at least for a while so parents can take a break for a quick bite which is often what happens.β

βIt seems a few buckets missed in the bucket fountain next to it and I hope it would get fixed soon. The playground is too simple and hopefully it could be upgraded in the future.β

Overview
Cuba Street Playground is a small urban play space in the heart of Cuba Mall featuring a brightly-coloured slide on safe matting. Located next to the iconic bucket fountain, it serves as a convenient rest stop for families shopping in central Wellington, though the limited equipment makes it better suited for brief visits with younger children rather than extended play sessions.
