Names after the former mayor, Sir Francis Joseph Kitts. This is a beautiful open space that is right along the waterfront. An amphiteater for picnics and events that can be reserved. The playground is a series of connected spaces with a cute maritime theme. There are climbing nets and swing sets and places for the adults to sit. You'll also find sculptures and walking areas. Leashed dogs are permitted.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
The waterfront setting and maritime play equipment make Frank Kitts a standout free outing. Kids love the climbing nets and connected play zones, and parents appreciate the benches, clean facilities, and easy harbour access. The top slide is best for children over five — worth noting before little ones make a beeline for it.

Overview
Frank Kitts Park sits right on Wellington's waterfront with a maritime-themed playground at its heart — climbing nets, swing sets, and sculptures spread across connected play spaces. An amphitheatre can be reserved for picnics and events, and there's plenty of open lawn for running around. Leashed dogs are welcome, and the location makes it easy to extend the day with a harbour walk. Free entry, pram-friendly paths, and a nearby café mean families can settle in for as long as the kids want.
