1 / 2Frank kitts Play area
đ Wellington Central, Wellington
Frank Kitts Play Area on Wellington's inner-city waterfront has been fully renovated with multiple big slides, swings and interactive structures. A lit lighthouse structure glows at night. Harbour views from the swings are a genuine highlight.
Great to see this area shiny and new again. Was looking quite tired before they closed it a few years ago. The waterfront is complete again now that it has returned. Fun for both children, and adults after dark on a night out, as it is beautifully lit up at night, including the inside of the lighthouse, which is way cooler than it was when I was a kid. Some things are missing due to the reduced budget but it doesn't take away from the magic of the space.
đ Family Action Verdict
Best for families visiting central Wellington who want a playground with genuine scenery â the harbour views from the swings are a real drawcard. The fully renovated equipment suits toddlers through to early teens. Evening visits work well for the lit lighthouse. Busy on sunny weekends â expect crowds.

âNewly renovated, it is a great place for kids to burn some energies. The facilities are suitable for all ages of children from toddler to teens. It is nearing a famous local ice cream shop. This park sits right at the front of the harbour with an amazing view, especially when you are on the swing!â
